Galen Bauer Appointed Chair of Aviation Law Certification by Florida Bar

As a member of the Standing Committee for Aviation Law Certification in Florida, our attorney Galen Bauer has already been an active force in defining, evaluating, and governing the title of “Board Certified Aviation Law Specialist” in the state of Florida – an important task for the legal profession as a whole. Now, our team is proud to share that Galen Bauer has been selected as the new Chair of Aviation Law Certification for the Florida Bar!

In every state, Board Certification serves to denote those attorneys who have achieved exceptional specialization, proficiency, and expertise within their practice area. In the interest of keeping these titles consistent and transparent across the board, Board Certification is carefully regulated by state bar associations like the Florida Bar, which set the requirements and standards for certification.

Although the requirements for Board Certification differ between practice areas and states, some common features include:

• A rigorous application process with scored and written exams
• Peer reviews
• Minimum legal experience (typically 5 years)
• Minimum required hours of related continuing legal education or CLE (typically more than 60 hours)
• Continuing involvement in the practice area for a minimum number of years
