A partner in our firm, Gretchen Van Liere focuses her legal practice on
medical negligence cases. Consulting with a wide network of the country’s
most committed medical experts, she has investigated, prosecuted and successfully
brought claims against physicians and hospitals — both civilian
and military — for the neglect and carelessness that brought death
or serious injury to our clients.
She has obtained multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements and settled
numerous Federal Tort Claims against military hospitals. With scrupulous
attention to detail, Van Liere monitors the changes in Florida malpractice
law. She is committed to supporting individuals and families who have
questions about whether medical negligence played a part in the death
or serious injury of a loved one.
She has dedicated her professional life to advocating on behalf of those
who are unable to fight the myriad medical bureaucracies in this country.
Not every investigation leads to litigation, but each of Van Liere’s
investigations provide answers for her clients.
Van Liere received her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University
of Florida and is a member of the prestigious Order of the Coif for outstanding
academic excellence in the study of law. Her professional affiliations include:
The Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida,
the Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Florida Justice Association.
She has lectured on the subject of medical malpractice litigation at the
Florida Coastal School of Law.
Van Liere was born in New London, Connecticut, and raised in Newport News,
Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida.
